Proposed Layout
July 2006

Proposed
layout of the ground floor of the Temple, with the existing area shown within
the dashed rectangle. The rooms are: A: Raised sanctum of the deities (942 sq.
ft) plus hall up to the double-folding screen; B: Jain sanctum; C: library and
conference room; D: Navagraha sanctum; E: present coat room; F: present hall
(2680 sq. ft.); G: present lobby; H: rest room; I: addition to hall (1340 sq.
ft.); J: Yagnashala (with pedestal); K: coat and shoe room; L: new lobby; M:
vestibule; N, O: multi-purpose rooms; P: new restroom.
The above figure shows the layout of the ground floor
after the expansion; the area enclosed within the dotted rectangle is the
present facility. The major features of the Temple Completion Project are:
- Navagraha sanctum
(marked D) in the existing building; this has already been completed in
time for the Navagraha Prana Pratishtha ceremony of June 30 – July 2,
2006.
- Yagnashala in the
extended hall (marked J). This will be a well-designed structure that will be
used for Havan as well as weddings and will be more compliant with safety
and fire codes.
- An elevator,
located at one end of the vestibule (M), for the convenience of our
devotees and to comply with the legal requirements of ADA. The vestibule
itself will serve as the new reception area.
- Four multi-purpose
rooms (two on each floor; the ground-floor rooms are marked N and O) that
will be used for children’s classes, religious classes, yoga, nursery,
green room for artists, etc.
- A new coat and shoe
room (K).
- Additional
restrooms for men and women, both upstairs and downstairs. P and H are the
ground-floor restrooms.
- Full commercial
kitchen in the basement. The existing area plus the addition will provide
dining hall seating for 250. The kitchen will help us cook prasad/dinner
in the Temple as well as increase the opportunities for facility rental
for special occasions.
